The course in brief

You will start at Teralba Park, Mitchelton and follow the walking path heading east through the Boondall Wetlands, and then north over the Hornibrook Bridge up and into Scarborough. Your walk will take you through a network of beautiful parks, bushland hidden among shady Eucalypts, wetlands teeming with birdlife and cool, peaceful coastal paths. After you've completed your 50k's enter the Finish at Owens Park for a well earned break!

When can I register?

Registration opened on April 1, 2010.

When does registration close?

Registration closes August 5, 2010 at 6pm.

What is the cost?

You must pay an administration fee to participate in Go the Extra Mile ($55 for adults, $25 for 6-16 years, free to toddlers). This funds the operation of the event and pays for things like venues, permits, insurances, medical staff, food, drink, hire of equipment. We strive to keep this cost low by trying to secure sponsors for the event and when you see their names appear on this website, you can expect a few more creature comforts on event day.

Fundraising target

Adult walkers must raise a minimum of $200 fundraising (teens 12-16 raise $50) - all of which will go toward the Dalit children of India - and all of which is fully tax deductible. You should know that Gospel for Asia sends 100% of the money you raise directly to India where it is used to fund the Bridge of Hope programs. None of your money is used to pay executive salaries or car leases or rent for buildings or ads for TV. So be assured, all your money will make it to India and help lift struggling children from poverty.

By the way - you can raise as much money as you like!

Need some ideas for fundraising?

We would love to help you achieve your target amounts so call on us for assistance. We have resources like banners, DVDs, brochures, powerpoint shows. We can also come to your school, group, church or workplace and speak about the walk and Gospel for Asia's work amongst the Dalits.

Having recently visited a number of Bridge of Hope centres in New Delhi, we can give you a first hand account of the amazing difference that the programs are having in the lives of the children and their families.
